The Third Man (第三の男, Daisan no Otoko) is the 3rd episode of Gibiate anime series.
Synopsis[]
Sensui and the others decide to set out for a new location. Along the way they encounter a type of Gibia they have never faced before. Yet during that challenge a third man who has traveled through time like Sensui and Kenroku appears before them!
Summary[]
Kathleen wants to record Kenroku's introduction and asks him to introduce himself to the camera. Kenroku explains that he is from Sanada family and had always served him, but as he fell in love and decided to live a normal life with his life, a rotten magistrate forced himself on her. Kenroku then stormed his place, but went overboard and killed him, for which he got exiled and later ended up in the future. Kathleen guesses he really loved her and looking at her Kenroku sees the resemblance between Kathleen and his love, Okuni.
As the camp is in ruins and only a few of them left, Dr. Yoshinaga, Brian and Yurika Funada discuss on what to do. Yurika suggests they go in the countryside, like Nagano who is surrounded by mountains and there would be less people in those regions, thus less of them turned into Gibia. Yoshinaga likes the idea and recalls there is a research facility in Niigata and agrees they head that way. Yoshinaga asks Sensui if he is willing to collect Gibia stingers for him as he needs a lot of Gibia's venom to research a vaccine and Sensui agrees.
Yoshinaga then leads them to the building where he keeps the collected samples and hopes the helicopter on the roof isn't destroyed. Entering the building, Yoshinaga asks Sensui and Kenroku to protect them as there may be Gibia in it and Sensui and Kenroku clear the building. Yoshinaga then tells everyone to collect what they can while he collects the samples and later meet on the roof. Brian confronts Yoshinaga asking him if he will be really be able to complete the vaccine as he lost a lot of men and don't want to lose anymore. Yoshinaga confirms that with Sensui and Kenroku help, they will be able to get more samples and complete the vaccine faster. As they gather on the roof, Sensui feels something is watching them and then notices a collapsed man on the roof of the next building. They take the helicopter and attempt to land on the next building, but a Gibia they have never see appears which uses a supersonic wave at them. Realizing its not afraid from the light, Yoshinaga states its abnormality and attempts to run, but the Gibia manages to catch the helicopter. Kenroku jumps out and blows the tentacles, but the Gibia still holds. As the Gibia is about to kill Kenroku, Sensui jumps out and saves him. He then goes to face the Gibia, but his katana breaks as he hits it.
Meanwhile, the man wakes up seeing a strange "bird" with people on it and a monster attacking it. As he waves at them, Kenroku asks him to do them a favor and gives him his wire, asking him to pull it. As he does, he manages to pull the helicopter over his building and the group jumps out of it, but Brian gets injured by the Gibia. The man then introduces himself as Yukinojyo Onikura, a warrior monk from Honganji. Kenroku stays on the helicopter and crashes it at the Gibia, causing it to explode.
Later, Kenroku and Sensui are surprised to learn that he is Yukinojyo as that means he comes from a time even before theirs from around 1570 where he fought Nobunaga. Yoshinaga explains the unique Gibia is a Meteora and it can operate in daylight, so they should be cautious.
In the morning the group goes out to look for necessities, while Yukinojyo and Kenroku still sleep. Yoshinaga wants to look into Brian's leg injury and later gives him painkillers, however a moments later Brian transforms into a Gibia.
